Procedures like failure analysis, process validation and competitive investigations often require that a sample be deformulated to identify components and to understand processing differences. TGA-IR provides tools for just this purpose. This White Paper describes the TGA-IR experiment and then focuses on the infrared data analysis, starting with manual tools and then describing the function of the Thermo Scientific OMNIC Mercury TGA software. This algorithm provides speed, thoroughness and consistency to the analysis while enabling any level of user to extract useful information from TGA-IR data sets.

Images can also be reproduced through the added ability topull information from the software's history, allowing users to easily recreatean image from raw data and processing steps. Spectral statistics allow users togroup spectra and perform advanced statistics, as well as employing principalcomponent analysis to minimize the spectral contribution of undesired featureswhile improving the signal to noise and the spatial resolution of the overallset of data.
OMNIC Atlμs 7.2 is fully compatible with Thermo's OMNIC software suite.This suite provides advanced chemometrics, rigorous qualification tools andextensive spectral libraries for getting the most from infrared and Raman data.
